The rain gauge is designed to meet the guidelines of the World Meteorological Organization. Rain is collected through a collecting funnel, passes through a dirt filter, and collects in a chamber in the tilting bucket. The bucket tilts at a water level of 0.2 mm. When the bucket tilts, it causes the contact to close. The rainwater flows through the drains in the base of the collector.
The collector is designed for years of precise, trouble-free operation. The rain gauge's shape is aerodynamically designed, minimizing wind error. The housing and base of the collector are made of robust, UV-resistant plastic.
The rain collector comes with a mounting base that can be attached to a post or mast.
The rain gauge consists of:
- 1 upper part (collecting vessel) and
- 1 lower part with electronics
The main features of the Davis Automatic Rain Gauge are:
- Collection area 200 cm²
- unheated rain gauge
- plastic
- low evaporation error
- small wind error
- easy operation
- high reliability
- low-maintenance
