Collection: Radar rain gauge

Radar does not measure precipitation directly on the ground; instead, radar waves are emitted, which are reflected by raindrops. The strength of the backscatter depends on the size and quantity of the raindrops. Through appropriate analysis, spatially distributed precipitation depths can be determined. The quality of radar measurements can be improved by calibrating them to simultaneously directly measured precipitation depths.
