Collection: UV radiometer

A radiometer is a detector for measuring irradiance. However, the term radiometer is not used solely for a functional principle. The lightmill invented by William Crookes[1] – a vane wheel rotating when illuminated – does not measure the mechanical radiation pressure of the light, but is driven by thermal molecular motion. The interior of the glass bulb is largely evacuated. In special applications, only partial ranges of the solar spectrum are observed (e.g., the UV spectrum). UV radiometers are measuring devices for measuring UV radiation. If the UV sensors have the necessary calibration, several sensors can be connected to a display unit. The UV sensors are already integrated in the dosemeters.
