The Gill Propeller Anemometer uses a fast-response helicoidal propeller and a high-quality tachogenerator transducer to generate a DC voltage linearly proportional to air speed. Airflow can be measured from any direction, but the propeller only responds to the component of airflow parallel to its axis of rotation. The off-center response closely approximates a cosine curve with corresponding polarity; if the airflow is perpendicular, the propeller does not rotate. The output signal is suitable for a wide range of signal converters and data acquisition devices. The standard Model 27106, with an expanded polystyrene (EPS) propeller, provides maximum sensitivity at low wind speeds. An optional Model 27016T, with a carbon thermoplastic (CFT) propeller, is available for extended range and durability.
