The Hiltner writing dew balance is used to quantitatively determine dew precipitation.
The device consists of:
- 1 white painted metal protective housing,
- 1 oil-damped balance beam with knife-edge bearing,
- 1 fine-meshed hair sieve with 100 cm² surface area as collecting area,
- 1 plumb line for vertical alignment,
- 1 fastening device for attaching the device to the associated iron tripod,
- 1 windshield for the collecting sieve and
- 1 recording device with drum clockwork.
Accessories: 1 iron tripod, 1 set of writing strips (100 sheets).
