HIM- digital and analog Measurement Devices

Gauges and measuring instruments used to determine geometrical or physical quantities. They usually result in a measurement by means of a scale or numerical display on a quantitative assessment of the magnitude to be measured, at registration apparatus which is output directly to paper or another durable (storage) medium. This statement, the measured value is given as a product of numerical value and unit. The measurement methods underlying principle is stated under metrology. General characteristics of measuring instruments gemäßDIN 1319-1 are listed under measuring equipment. [1]

A measuring device as defined in the "Fundamentals of Metrology" in DIN 1319 as "All measuring instruments and additional equipment to achieve a measurement result" and in the simplest case of a single instrument.

Instruments for making measurements generally include to the group of measuring instruments. Are these for testing used, they are also referred to as test equipment according to DIN 1319-2. [2]

The meter may malfunction or the measured value can contain measurement errors; these are herauszurechnen or estimate their size. Particularly accurate measuring instruments can contribute to the calibration, adjustment or calibration other measuring instruments are used (see also Monitoring of measuring equipment). For determined values a measurement uncertainty can be specified ..
